The Counterfeit Stones - The great British Take Off!
The Counterfeit Stones celebrate over a quarter of a century of master forgery with yet another glam-bake. “The Most Famous Stones Band In England” as quoted by Sir Mick Jagger himself, are touring the UK with a new riff packed show that’s set to leave their fans gasping. This skilfully mixed cocktail of classic hits, retro costume and humour continues to intoxicate young and old alike – 100% proof that a good shot of copy-rock always hits the target. This is the band to give a huge dose of nostalgia for those who were there and an education for those who weren’t.
The show is essentially a mockumentary of the Rolling Stones’ colourful history and as well as perfect renditions of their greatest hit songs includes a series of spoof film clips depicting real and imagined events – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus; that famous drug bust with the girl in a rug; the search for Brian Jones’ replacement; being exposed as a scam on TV. These mini-movies have been originally produced and conveniently cover the costume and set changes presenting a visual feast that transcends five decades.
Not only have Nick Dagger, Keef Rickard, Bill Hymen, Charlie Mott and the Unholy Trinity of Bryon Jones/Mick Tailor-Made/ Ronnie B. Goode been thrilling sold-out crowds around the globe for 25 years but are regularly invited to play post tour parties (Oasis, Motorhead, Phil Collins); support spots (Barry Manilow, Iggy Pop, ZZ Top,); posh dos (Bill Clinton, Prince Edward, Sir Tim Rice); corporate bashes (Microsoft, Vodafone, Jack Daniels) and ironically a function on board an aircraft carrier in San Diego for 6000 lawyers attending a conference on counterfeiting.
Such is the accuracy of the band that they were chosen to play the soundtracks on Stephen Wooley’s feature film STONED and a Channel 4 documentary on the Rolling Stones’ early years with Brian Jones.
Fakin’ brilliance - It’s Phoney Rock ‘n’ Roll but a real bargain
