Martin Litton's New York Jazz Band
Martin Litton‘s New York Jazz Band pays tribute to the musicians working and recording in the Big Apple in the late 20s & early 30s. Janice Day, the UK's finest exponent of this vocal style, is the Annette Hanshaw de nos jours while Martin conjures up the shades of pianists Arthur Schutt and Frank Signorelli.
In the role of Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang are Kit Massey (violin)and Martin Wheatley (guitar), with Melbourne's multi-instrumentalist Michael McQuaid portraying Jimmy Dorsey, Bix Beiderbecke and Frankie Trumbauer – to name but a few. Completing the remarkably authentic sound of the ensemble is the bass saxophone of David Horniblow, our latter-day Adrian Rollini.
